Tips for a Steamy and Sustainable Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is here and THIRD LAW is sharing ways to get sweet, sexy and sustainable!

Date time! Get outdoors and get your blood pumping

  • Go skating, skiing, snow-shoeing, or any winter activity that gets you outside to enjoy fresh air and get some exercise.

  • Weather permitting, pack a picnic and enjoy a meal outdoors (don’t forget to reusable containers!)

Or stay inside and get romantic

  • Have a relaxing night for two with a little Netflix & chill followed by a massage.

  • For more stimulation, learn to dance with online dance lessons

  • Get creative and map out a future eco-friendly vacation

  • Make it a board game night, the possibilities are endless (strip poker anyone?)

  • Follow any activity up with a romantic Valentine's Day Breakfast

Cook an organic & local meal at home

  • Check out your local farmer’s market to see what is fresh and in season. Pick a meal you haven’t made before to get extra creative or stick to an old favorite if you have one. Top the meal off with some champagne and and don’t forget dessert...whether that involves food or not! ;)

Buy a vintage or recycled gift they’ll cherish

  • Vintage and antique jewelry is not only beautiful, but it’s incredibly sustainable! Check out Alpha & Omega Jewelry for some great gift ideas.

  • Jewelry made from recycled gold is long-lasting and sustainable, like one of our favs, AuRate

  • And if you’re feeling naughty, check out these recycled lace lingerie sets by Azura Bay which are made from recycled lace, size-inclusive and fair trade! That’s sexy.

Start a romantic Valentine’s Day tradition.

  • Write love notes to your significant other on recycled paper

  • Or better yet, skip the paper and write a message on your body with this DIY chocolate body paint.

  • Instead of gifting flowers wrapped in plastic (most of which are likely grown overseas = carbon emissions),  why not gift a tree instead? With One Tree Planted, in just a few clicks, you can plant a new tree around the world.

  • If chocolate is their thing, why not opt for something fair trade and organic like Alter Ego. It’s ethically made and since 2008, they’ve offset 14,400 tons of CO2 as part of their goal to be carbon neutral.

  • Take an eco-friendly trip - from hotels committed to reducing energy consumption, to pioneering tours and activities designed to give back to local communities and help wildlife thrive. Check out this guide from Lonely Planet for eco-friendly & sustainable tours/travel ideas /resorts ideas.
